A walk from the Hermitage to Wilhelminenaue
In the footsteps of Margravine Wilhelmine, the path leads through striking landscapes and past historic monuments.
Route description
The Wilhelmine path starts behind the Hofgarten on Cosima-Wagner-Straße. From there, follow the main road towards the city centre and turn right onto Königsallee. Keep climbing the hill until you reach the Rollwenzelei at a crossroads and turn left. Shortly after the Rollwenzelei, take the footpath on the right. Via Eremitenhofstraße you enter the Hermitage and walk the length of the park as far as just before the Old Palace. There, turn right onto the footpath. At the bridge over the Red Main, follow the walking trail to the left. After 500 m turn sharp right. From here continue along Schützengraben and once around Rodersberg. At Steinachstraße keep left. Follow the Red Main, pass under the A9 motorway and finally reach Wilhelminenaue. Walk the riverside promenade towards the Volksfestplatz and, along the Red Main, return to the city centre.
