The water adventure playground at the Tauritzmühle is designed to help children understand the experience of “water” (Distance from Bayreuth: 21 km)
At the water adventure playground, stones have been laid along a stretch of the Tauritzbach about 25 metres long, steps and sandbanks have been built in, and sensory pillars have been set up on the bank where you can experience the element of water with all your senses. There is also a nature quiz: the “nature identification” consists of 12 rotating cubes covering trees, animals and plants. For every four questions there are 12 possible answers. The little ones also love the stylised igloo made of willow branches – the beaver lodge.
There are comfortable seating areas on two levels: down by the Tauritzbach in the open air right next to the children, or up on the other side of the stream under the chestnut trees. Sandstone from the original Tauritzmühle, which burned down, was used to reinforce the banks. Steps lead down to the Tauritzbach, and there is now also a mud play area, complemented by a gravel zone. The upper row of steps also makes a good place to sit, so you are always close to the children. And thanks to the two beaver walkways on the grounds of the Fichtelgebirgsverein, they won’t get bored in a hurry. With its idyllic beer garden, the Tauritzmühle is the perfect place to stop for refreshments. While the little ones enjoy themselves by the stream, parents can relax here.
