Waldhaus Mehlmeisel Streichelgehege

Discover and experience our native wildlife on the barrier-free circular trail through the open-air animal enclosure at the Waldhaus. (Distance from Bayreuth: 30 km)

The highlight: the elevated walkway at the Waldhaus, directly above the lynx and wild boar enclosures. Our raised boardwalk takes you over the enclosures at a height of around four metres and opens up new and interesting perspectives.

From several viewing platforms you can watch our animals, such as wild boar, deer, wildcat or lynx, in spectacular action. Every now and then you can also see young animals making their clumsy first attempts to explore their surroundings.

Stroking, cuddling, hugging and letting soft muzzles nibble food from your hand: feed and pet the goats and sheep together with your children. The wildlife park’s own petting zoo is a joy for the whole family and a great way to round off your wildlife park experience tour.

Thanks to comprehensive explanations, visitors can also learn plenty of interesting details about the local wildlife.

The entire park at the Waldhaus is barrier-free and wheelchair-accessible, and parking is available.
