The Bayreuth Art Museum was initiated by the Dr. Helmut and Constanze Meyer Art Foundation and opened in 1999 in the renovated Old Baroque Town Hall in the heart of the historic city center.
The art museum in Bayreuth is located in the city center in the Old Baroque Town Hall. The extensive collections from various foundations and collections are presented here in constantly changing exhibitions, showcasing modern art, primarily with works on and with paper.
The focus of the collections at the Bayreuth Art Museum is on works from the twentieth century. Represented epochs include Expressionism, Constructivism, and Surrealism. Additionally, works of the New Objectivity, figuration after 1945, and Concept Art and Fluxus can be found.
