What you would not really expect from a city of culture? Professional sport! Yet Bayreuth has several teams competing at national level.
BBC Bayreuth

Step into the OBERFRANKENHÖLLE (“Upper Franconian Hell”) and experience BBC Bayreuth live!
Since the 2010/2011 season, one of the 18 basketball teams in Germany’s top division has come from Bayreuth: BBC Bayreuth.
Whether in the derbies against Bamberg and Würzburg, the absolute top games against Berlin, Bayern München, Ulm and Oldenburg … or any of the other games in the Bundesliga and Champions League … when the players of BBC Bayreuth step onto the court in the Bayreuth Sportpark, the arena turns into the OberfrankenHÖLLE!
It is an unforgettable experience when around 3,400 spectators stand behind their team as one.
This thrilling, gripping, indeed almost indescribable atmosphere has turned many a visitor into a regular after their very first game.
There is a documentary about the team that is well worth watching, which you can find on YouTube.
Here is the trailer:
When Bayreuth’s basketball players try, with commitment, passion and energy right up to the last second of every game, to trip up one or other of the league’s big names, you simply have to be there.
Fancy going to a game?
Tickets for the games are easily available online at https://www.bbc-bayreuth.de/tickets/ticketangebote or, of course, at the fan shop at Brunnenstraße 7.
There you can also pick up the right fan outfit straight away.
