After your walk, you can then warm up again with a nice hot tea, cocoa, coffee or something else.
Table of contents
1: At the Buchstein

Beautiful forest paths with striking sandstone rock formations await you there.

2: Around the Fichtelsee

The lake is about a 40-minute drive from Bayreuth, but it is worth it: there is a wonderful circular trail along the lakeshore and through forest and moorland.

3: In the Festspielpark at, or in the woods above, the Festspielhaus

The park of around 19 hectares at the Festspielhaus is great for a walk, as are the woods on the Green Hill (please note: the Siegesturm in these woods is usually only open and accessible for climbing in the frost-free months). A tip: a little way above the Festspielhaus, you can also go sledging – it is great fun.

4: At the Röhrensee

Not only the lake with a lovely circular path awaits you there, but also, for example, a nice playground and a freely accessible animal park.

5: In the Wilhelminenaue

Since April 2017, the Wilhelminenaue, the former site of the 2016 State Garden Show, has been freely accessible. The new park offers relaxation and nature experiences for young and old, as well as a new habitat for rare plants and animals.

6: In the Hofgarten of Bayreuth

The Hofgarten next to the New Palace, the “green lung” of the city centre, looks forward to your visit. You can enter it, for example, at the Richard Wagner Museum or by the New Palace.

7: In the Hermitage

The Hermitage in Bayreuth was originally a woodland enclosure; today it is an impressive park with fountains, magnificent buildings and much more. In winter the fountains are usually covered and the palaces are not open for visits, but the park still works its magic and is ideal for a walk.

8: Around Fantaisie Palace

Fantaisie Palace is about a 15-minute drive from Bayreuth, and also about a quarter of an hour by bus (for example on lines 373 or 375 from Bayreuth ZOH). There you will find a very beautiful, extensive park with secluded corners featuring small grottoes, rock formations and sculptures.

9: Aichig panoramic trail

Unfortunately we don’t have a winter picture of it at the moment, but it is lovely there in winter too – you can take our word for it even without a picture ❄😊
