First, a quick overview:
- Breakfast in a café
- City tour/museums/indoor tours
- Going shopping
- A walk through autumnal nature
- Lohengrin Therme
It’s that time again: the leaves are turning orange, the air is getting crisper and we’re getting our favourite jumpers out of the wardrobe …
Autumn is here!
Many people miss the summer now, but I’m pretty good at romanticising the cold season.
And you can do it too!
The best way to do it is to come to Bayreuth, because it’s really beautiful here in autumn!
A perfect day should start with a perfect breakfast!
No problem, because here in Bayreuth there are lots of lovely cafés and bakeries that can offer just that.
Just stroll through our beautiful city centre and you’ll find lots of cosy, warm places where you can enjoy a coffee or a tea. And don’t forget to turn down one or two of the little side streets along the way.
Now that you’ve refuelled, the programme can begin.
Perhaps you already spotted a few sights on your way to breakfast and wondered what they’re all about.
Perhaps the Margravial Opera House , the New Palace or even Haus Wahnfried. All these beautiful buildings have a museum that presents their fascinating history. They also offer guided tours.
If you’re interested, you can find out more here:
Also well worth seeing is Richard Wagner’s Festspielhaus, which stands on the Green Hill, about 12 minutes by bus from the city centre.
Bayreuth also has other museums that are well worth a visit!

In my opinion, a day filled with culture is a good day, but if you see things differently, perhaps I can get you excited about Bayreuth’s shopping opportunities.
For one thing, we have a varied shopping centre called “Rotmaincenter” with around 80 shops. From clothes and jewellery to bags, you’ll find everything your heart desires here. There are also lots of places to eat.
For another, there are lots of charming little shops and a department store in Bayreuth’s city centre (Galeria Bayreuth), just waiting for you to discover them.
Here, too, the same applies: feel free to turn down a little side street!
Our city centre also offers a huge variety of places to eat.
German food, Italian, Asian, Indian, Mexican … all within a radius of 500 m.
To digest all that delicious food and enjoy autumn to the full, I suggest planning a post-meal stroll through the colourful countryside.
Depending on your preference, here are four suggestions:
Whichever you choose, all these places are beautiful (especially in autumn). I’ll just let the pictures speak for themselves:

To round off the day in a relaxed way, I would recommend a visit to the thermal baths.

The Lohengrin Therme is the perfect place to relax and escape the cold.
The thermal baths have an indoor and an outdoor pool, a steam bath, a sound pool, another outdoor pool with jets, a whirlpool, a cold plunge pool and a sauna area. You can also have a delicious dinner in the bistro, and massages can be booked too.
I hope I’ve inspired you with one or two of these activities and that you’ll enjoy your own perfect autumn day!
