Explore Bayreuth as the perfect destination for short vacation

Dear partner,

the days between Christmas and New Year’s eve are traditionally very quiet in the office. And so I took the time and revised and supplemented my US address file with missing addresses. And since you are on the list, I met you during  the last twelve years on a road show in the USA, on a press trip in Bayreuth, at the German Market Place in the USA, at the Germany Travel Mart in Germany, at a press lunch together with the German National Tourist Board or the Bavarian Connection of Bavaria Tourism Marketing in the USA or on a webinar.
Do you remember our first meeting? I would be happy, if you let me know. Regardless, I would like to remind you of the beauty and the attractiveness of Bayreuth in Bavaria, not Lebanon.

Therefore, During the next weeks I would like to show you different aspects why the city can be your top destination for a short-term vacation.

I would like to thank you for a great year of 2023 and am looking forward to staying in contact with you.

Warm regards from Bayreuth and a successful year 2024,
Manuel Becher

Cultural Highlights: A mix of modern street art and Margravian culture

The Margravial Era

The Margraves had a major impact on Bayreuth as we know it today. Especially Margravine Wilhelmine, sister of Frederick the Great, shaped Bayreuth in only two decades into a European residence city. The Margravial Opera House, a UNESCO World Heritage Site is known as one of the best-preserved Baroque theaters.

In addition to the Margravial Opera House, you will find magnificent facilities such as the New Palace, Palace Fantaisie, and the Hermitage, all of them are impressive and top highlights in the city.

Richard Wagner

When you think of Bayreuth you probably have Richard Wagner and his famous opera festival that takes place every summer since 1876 in mind. The Festival Theater, the second opera house in Bayreuth, that is exclusively used for this festival can be visited. The Villa Wahnfried, his former home in Bayreuth, offers visitors an insight into his life and houses a modern museum.

The Historical City Center

Bustling boulevards like Friedrichstrasse, Ludwigstrasse or Maximilianstrasse are adorned with galleries, boutiques, shops and cafes and are part of the historical city center. While strolling alongside historical buildings museums and exhibitions can be visited.

Furthermore, the city offers plenty of possibilities for shopping, with a big mall located nearby.

Urban Art

However, Bayreuth not only surprises with historical splendor but also with modern street art that transforms the city into an urban artwork. A fascinating contrast that is very popular among visitors.
